The Peacocks’ predicament near the bottom of the Vanarama National League South table took another turn for the worse after they lost 2-0 to fellow strugglers Truro City this afternoon. Town were on the back foot after only six minutes when Truro grabbed the lead when Dan Lavercombe parried Tyler Harvey’s free kick and Tom Harrison slotted home the loose ball. City failed to capitalise on further openings as they led at the break before Taunton contrived to miss two open goals during the second half and paid the price when Ed Palmer headed home from Will Dean’s corner to double the City lead after 62 minutes. The Peacocks had a chance to get a foothold back in the game with twenty minutes remaining after Zac Smith had been tripped in the box, but Ross Stearn saw his penalty saved by James Hamon as Truro comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to prolong Town’s dismal winless run.
