We are delighted to confirm that centre half Jake Wannell is the latest player to agree terms to stay with the Peacocks for next season.
Jake told tauntontown.com:” Firstly I hope all the fans are keeping well and safe in these weird times. We are all itching to get back and put on some performances for you all! After such a weird so-called season, I’m already looking forward to getting going for next season. I really do think we have a great squad here and can achieve something.
“Personally, I have loved coming here, with a few new lads coming in, I think we have all gelled extremely well and already feels like I have been here for years. That’s credit to Rob, Meaks and Matt, they have been brilliant. Also I couldn’t say no to another year with my boot boy Nick Box Head Grimes plus another year going toe to toe with Lloyd with Liverpool and United. Up The Peacocks!”
The 26 year old joined Town last summer from Salisbury and has proved an imposing presence in the heart of the Peacocks’ defence. He progressed through the youth system at Exeter City and after a couple of loan spells elsewhere he signed for Weymouth in 2014 where he spent three seasons. He then moved to Salisbury in May 2017.
Head of Football Rob Dray said:” Jake is without doubt the best left-sided centre back in the league so it’s massive to extend his contract. He’s got it all, stature, a wand of a left foot and built like a Greek God plus he’s a great lad so it’s huge for us and we’re pleased to have him.”
