Dan Sullivan scored a second half winner as the Peacocks came from behind to secure a fine 2-1 BetVictor Southern League win at Swindon Supermarine this afternoon (8th February).
In a game of limited chances Town were unlucky not to take the lead on the quarter hour when Sullivan’s shot smacked off the crossbar but it was the hosts who made the breakthrough on 35 minutes, Supermarine breaking down the left and Conor McDonagh rounding Lloyd Irish to find the empty net. The home side came close to doubling their lead minutes into the second half when Brad Hooper’s shot cannoned off the bar before the Peacocks drew level on 57 minutes when Louis Spalding was adjudged to have pushed over Sullivan and Ryan Brett fired home from the penalty spot. Ollie Chamberlain then won the ball on the left before picking out Sullivan in the middle and his strike from the edge of the box took a deflection to hit the net and put the visitors ahead after 69 minutes. Town snuffed out any more threat from Supermarine to claim an excellent win and climb up a place to fourth in the table.
