Town recovered from an early scare to claim all 3 points over Gosport Borough yesterday afternoon (19 Jan).
The visitors stuck within the first minute as Samuel Lanahan looped a header over Chandler Hallett from Patrick Suraci’s free kick.
The Peacocks replied just before the quarter of an hour mark through Lewis Hall and Ryan Brett converted with a pin point free kick just before the half-time whistle to see Taunton ahead at the break.
Ollie Chamberlain extended the lead with an overhead kick from 12 yards on 66 minutes. Gosport rallied deep into stoppage time when Ben Adelsbury conceded a penalty. Ryan Pennery made no mistake from the spot with the whistle going shortly after allowing Town to extend their lead at the top of the table to six points following Weymouth dropping points at home to Kings Langley.
Head of Football Rob Dray reacted, “I thought the scoreline didn’t reflect our performance. In every position we dominated both ball and the opponent. We scored some superb goals which was shared throughout the side so all in all a good days work for us.”
