We are delighted to welcome defender Tiago Sa as the latest member of Richard Luffman’s summer rebuild at Wordsworth Drive.
Tiago arrives at Wordsworth Drive following a spell away from football travelling in South East Asia, prior to his travels Tiago turned out 126 times for Dorchester Town. He told Peacocks’ media: “Being a local lad based in Chard, I have always known and seen Taunton to be a big club. Where I have over 5 years experience in playing in the Southern League for Weymouth and Dorchester I have witnessed how great the fan base is at the club, as Wordsworth Drive was always a tough place to go to. So, I’m more than excited to be a part of it all this coming season especially after speaking with Luffers and hearing his plans for where he wants to take the club with the players he has brought in, it’s an opportunity I just couldn’t say no to. With that being said i look forward to seeing everyone in pre season.”
Tiago started his football journey within the ranks of the Yeovil Town youth system, where he honed his skills before moving to, then Southern League side, Weymouth. where he made 53 appearances between the 2016/17 season and the 2018/19 season, Tiago first left Weymouth on a loan spell at Dorchester Town, a move that would eventually become permanent in the subsequent summer of 2019/20. Following the transition to Dorchester Town, Tiago quickly solidified his position within the team, showcasing his versatility by featuring prominently in 126 matches as both a left-back and a left-sided center-half. Tiago became a mainstay in the Dorchester Town lineup, making 126 appearances, before departing the Avenue Stadium in September of 2023 to go travelling.
Taunton Town boss Richard Luffman was quick to hail another important capture, expressing his satisfaction with the new addition to the team, saying:” Tiago being a local lad and a left-footed full back gives us great balance and energy which is important. A very good southern league player who I’ve no doubt will go on have a brilliant season for us.”
