The Peacocks staged a brilliant recovery to defeat Poole Town 3-2 in the 2nd Round Qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup this afternoon.
A disappointing first half saw the visitors trail 2-0 at the break, with Harvey Slade rounding Adam Parkes to fire the Dolphins ahead after just 3 minutes and then Tom Hewlett turning to drive home off the post to double the lead after 34 minutes. Taunton got themselves back into it on 62 minutes when skipper Tom Smith prodded home from close range before he volleyed home a lovely strike from the edge of the box for the equaliser just three minutes later. The match was then suspended for half an hour following some crowd unrest but the Peacocks didn’t let that affect them and completed a superb turnaround when play resumed, Smith grabbing his hat trick with another close range finish after 77 minutes to send his side through to the next round of the competition in two weeks’ time.
