A goal deep into stoppage time from Dave Sims-Burgess rescued a deserved point for the Peacocks as they drew 1-1 with Oxford City in the Vanarama National League South this evening.
Town were not at the races in a first half which saw the visitors in control and leading at the break, the goal coming after 26 minutes when Josh Ashby’s shot hit the post and Alfie Potter slotted home the rebound. The second half was in complete contrast with the Peacocks on top but without being able to make a breakthrough. During the last five minutes in separate incidents ,Town’s Lee Lucas and City’s Josh Parker were both sent off for two yellow cards before the Peacocks equalised five minutes into stoppage time, Jay Foulston’s free kick being nodded on by Nick Grimes for Sims-Burgess to fire home from close range.
