The Peacocks registered a pre-season victory on consecutive nights after they won 2-0 at Clevedon Town this evening.

It proved another good test for Taunton who fielded a completely different side to the one that had played at Cribbs 24 hours earlier. The visitors had an early goal chalked out for offside after Archie Ferris had latched onto Ryan Crouch’s ball forward to lob home keeper James Dunn before Adam Parkes showed a strong pair of hands to deny two Clevedon efforts from James Wakefield and Syd Camper.

The opening goal came in the 48th minute after Calum English-Brown had been upended just outside the box, with Brain stepping up to arrow a fine free kick into the top corner. Taunton produced several other openings during the second half with Jake Hodgson coming close, but had to wait until nine minutes from time to add another when Brain’s low free kick in from the left was diverted into his own net by the outstretched leg of Callum Kingdon as Hodgson looked to capitalise.

Taunton continue their pre-season build-up with a friendly at Bishops Cleeve this coming Friday (26th July), ko 7.45pm.
