Weather permitting it’s the final game of 2022 for the Peacocks when they welcome Weymouth to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium in the National League South tomorrow evening (30th December), ko 7.45pm.
Due to rainfall levels over recent days and further forecasted wet weather in the morning, there is planned to be a pitch inspection tomorrow lunchtime. If the game gets the green light it will be the first home match for Town in nearly four weeks since playing out a goalless draw with Braintree Town at the beginning of the month. Due to a couple of postponements and cup commitments, they have only played one League game since then which came on Boxing Day against tomorrow’s opponents when goals from Zac Smith, Lee Lucas and Nick McCootie steered the Peacocks to a 3-1 victory, a result which lifted them up one place to 16th in the table and made it five League games unbeaten. The potential is there to climb considerably higher if they can take full advantage of their games in hand on all sides above them whereas the Terras will be aiming for a rapid response to their home defeat which sees them lying one place off the bottom of the table.
The Peacocks will hope to sign off the year with another home success, the Cygnet proving a happy place over the past 16 months which has seen them unbeaten in all League encounters. Their squad is unchanged from Boxing Day with the good news that striker Nat Jarvis is now available following the successful appeal against his recent dismissal at Slough in the FA Trophy. Head of Football Rob Dray remarked:” It will be good to be back at home after an enforced lay-off with hopefully a big crowd. Boxing Day counts for nothing now as we realise there are a lot of things we can do better but momentum is key. In what has been an historic 12 months we want to see the year out properly.”
