The Peacocks are on the road tomorrow evening (22nd February) when they travel to Swindon Supermarine for the rearranged Southern League Challenge Cup Semi-Final postponed last week due to a waterlogged pitch.
They will go into the tie in great spirits after beating Hendon on Saturday to record their 10th League win in a row and 17th game unbeaten in all competitions. Town have already surpassed their best effort in the competition by reaching the Semi-Final but will now be aiming to go on and claim a place in the Final against either Royston Town or Rushall Olympic whose semi-final was also postponed last week. Supermarine will have a major incentive to reach the final themselves after losing twice to the Peacocks this season in the League but will come into the game having not played due to the weather since losing to Town at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium ten days ago. Saturday’s game at the Webbswood Stadium was also postponed and there will be a pitch inspection tomorrow at 2.00pm.
To reach this stage of the competition Supermarine firstly beat Larkhall at home before winning at Salisbury. They then enjoyed a comfortable victory over Melksham before thrashing Wantage 8-1 at the Webbswood Stadium to reach the Quarter-Final when a stoppage time goal from Ryan Campbell steered them to a 1-0 win at Berkhamsted. The Peacocks meanwhile have accounted for Bideford on penalties followed by a 6-0 win over Barnstaple before they came out on top in another penalty shoot-out against Truro. Town then beat Weston-super-Mare and Paulton Rovers to achieve a spot in the last four.
Town again name an unchanged squad from the weekend, with Head of Football Rob Dray saying:” The lads have done magnificently to maintain this winning sequence and we will be doing our best to keep it going tomorrow and give the club and fans a cup final to look forward to.”
