The Peacocks continue their pre-season programme when they welcome Exeter City to the Viridor Stadium tomorrow evening (27th July), kick-off 7.30pm.
It will be Town’s third friendly of the summer, having notched up convincing 5-0 wins in their two games so far against Willand Rovers and a Plymouth Argyle XI. However tomorrow’s match is sure to prove the hardest test yet with the Grecians set to bring their first team squad up the M5. Under the guidance of new manager Matty Taylor, Exeter have won all four of their pre-season games to date, a 3-1 win at Bideford followed by a 6-0 thumping of Truro City and then 1-0 and 2-0 victories at Bath City and Weymouth respectively so Town will have to be on their game from the off if they want to stem the City tide.
The Peacocks will be missing skipper Matt Wright and Ryan Brett who are both in Sweden but otherwise the squad remains the same as Tuesday evening including two trialists. Manager Leigh Robinson is still on holiday so Michael Meaker and Rob Dray will again take the reins.
Coach Dray remarked: “Tomorrow we welcome a strong Exeter team and the biggest test we have had for a while that will come from us being starved of the ball for long periods. This means our fitness will come heavily into play and also our shape and discipline which for us as a management team is as exciting as winning the last two games.”
