Taunton will be searching for their third successive win when they welcome Hanwell Town to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium in the Southern League Premier South tomorrow (7th September), ko 3.00pm.

The Peacocks have had a week to recuperate from last weekend’s FA Cup win over Didcot Town which followed a first league victory of the campaign at Frome Town on Bank Holiday Monday. These two results will have boosted the belief that another three points are achievable against the West London side who have made a decent start to the season, lying in 7th place with nine points from their five games. All those points have come at home with victories over Bracknell Town, Swindon Supermarine and Marlow whilst they have lost their two matches on the road by single goal margins to Wimborne and Merthyr. However, the Geordies (so called because of the club’s formation in 1920 by Newcastle locals working in the area) indicated what they are capable of when they thrashed Sheppey United 6-0 in a FA Cup replay on Tuesday evening following a draw in Kent last weekend.

Taunton manager Richard Luffman travelled to witness Hanwell’s replay victory and said:” They’ve got proper players and a really good step three team, so we know it’s going to be another real test. To help us pass that test I hope the town of Taunton comes out and gets behind us. It would be great to top the gates we’ve had so far and with three of our next four league games being at home, we are really counting on the fans’ support to help us get the right results.”

Jayden Nielsen returns to the Peacocks’ squad after being cup tied for the FA Cup game whilst Archie Ferris and David Duru are both vying for a start following their performances against Didcot. Tiago Sa will be missing for several months as he begins his recovery from a broken leg.

Last meeting: the clubs have only met twice before during the Southern League Division One South & West season of 2006-7. It finished goalless between the teams at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium in April 2007, in contrast to the first meeting in October 2006 when the Peacocks fought back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 in West London via goals from Steve Cook (pen), Ryan Havard, Charlie Welch and Sonyo Da Mata.
