The Peacocks three month wait for a Vanarama National League South win is over following a fantastic 3-1 victory at high-flying Worthing this afternoon.
The Sussex side were on top in the early stages but found themselves behind after 19 minutes when a defensive block ricocheted off Town’s new striker Seb Bolton to find the net despite the efforts of Rebels’ keeper Toby Bull to keep it out. Worthing were presented with a golden chance to draw level just before the break when Zac Bell was penalised for a trip on Danny Cashman but Ollie Pearce’s spot kick was kept out by the legs of Dan Lavercombe. Pearce struck the bar for Worthing straight after the break before the Peacocks snatched a second goal on 65 minutes, a goalkeeping error from Bull saw the ball cross the line after he failed to hold Bell’s long throw. There was further delight on 77 minutes when Nat Jarvis glanced home a third for the visitors from a Lloyd James cross, with the home side earning one back after 89 minutes through Jack Wadham who fired home from the edge of the box. The Peacocks were not to be denied though as they recorded a massively important win which they will aim to continue on Tuesday when they travel to Torquay United.
