After two games on the road, the Peacocks return to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow afternoon (24th August) with the visit of Sholing in the Southern League Premier South, ko 3.00pm.

One point from their opening three games hasn’t been the start that Town would have hoped for as their new side continue to gel together. The opening day draw with Gloucester followed by two narrow defeats on the road at Poole and Hungerford leaves the Peacocks in 18th spot so all efforts will be focused on achieving their first victory of the campaign when the Hampshire outfit come to Somerset tomorrow.

The Boatmen lie in 10th spot in the early table, with a win at Swindon Supermarine and a 1-0 victory over Marlow last weekend sandwiching a 3-0 home loss to AFC Totton. They completed last season in 15th place but under former Havant boss Paul Doswell they have a seasoned squad with plenty of Southern League experience which will be certain to provide Town with a difficult challenge.

Taunton have no injury concerns apart from Owen Brain who is still expected to miss the game due to a hamstring complaint. As previously reported, Calum English-Brown and Olly Sully have gone out on loan to Shaftesbury and Willand Rovers respectively. Peacocks’ manager Richard Luffman commented: ”The next six games represent a pivotal part of our season as we’ve a lot of fixtures against sides that we expect to be around us so we need to get some good points on the board starting tomorrow but to achieve a positive result we really need the supporters to get behind the team. We probably should have more than the one point from the three games, but the margins have gone against us, and we need that to change so we can start climbing the table. The support so far has been amazing so we’re all hoping for more of the same tomorrow.”
