Taunton Town bounced back to record a hard fought victory over Poole Town (23 Mar) and maintain the pressure on leaders Weymouth.
Rocky Neal sent the Viridor Stadium into elation within 47 seconds as Ryan Brett’s quick thinking worked the opportunity for Neal to loft the ball over the Luke Cairney in the visitors goal.
As much as the visitors huffed and puffed they could not find their way past Lloyd Irish and Neal’s early goal proved vital to keep Town in the hunt for the league title.
Following the match Rob Dray said, “At this point of the season and especially after the last few weeks,it is all about results and a clean sheet is very welcome. For 3 years on the bounce we are involved at the top end of the table with all to play for . I thought our defending was resolute and our shape was outstanding. A win changes a lot and we realise as a group there is more to come.”
