Exeter City proved too strong for the Peacocks as they emerged 5-0 winners in a pre-season friendly at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this evening (13th July).
The visitors grabbed an early lead after 5 minutes when Jack Veale’s drive into the box was diverted home by Ben Seymour. The Peacocks were close to drawing level on 20 minutes when Toby Holmes seized on an underhit Jordan Dyer backpass, rounded keeper Scott Brown but found the post from a tight angle. The Grecians put paid to any Town hopes after the break as they dominated, scoring six minutes into the second half when Seymour fired home from a Jake Caprice cross. Exeter then scored a third five minutes later through Jevani Brown who drilled home another centre from Caprice. Sam Nombe muscled through the defence to add a fourth goal on 63 minutes before adding his second and City’s fifth eight minutes from time after a strong turn and shot from the edge of the box.
