The Peacocks began their pre-season itinerary with a comfortable 5-0 victory at Western League Willand Rovers yesterday evening (13th July). A Ben Adelsbury free kick and a Craig Veal goal put Town two up inside 12 minutes and further strikes from Keith Emmerson and Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neal extended the lead by half time. Veal added another after the break to conclude the scoring while Town also hit the woodwork on another four occasions.
Reaction | Reflecting on a decent night’s work, manager Leigh Robinson commented: “It was a really good start to pre-season and I was delighted with how hungry and fit the players looked. In the first game of pre-season everyone is rusty on the ball and therefore need at least a game to shake this off and you could see a little bit of that in our play understandably. Overall though we can be happy with our efforts as we look forward to the tests against the pro clubs over the next few weeks.”
