The Peacocks continue their Southern League Premier South campaign when they travel to Wimborne Town tomorrow afternoon (9th November), ko 3.00pm.
A season high placing of 8th was achieved by Taunton following Tuesday night’s fine win at Walton & Hersham and they will be looking to back that up with another positive result tomorrow on only their second ever visit to the Magpies’ relatively new stadium, having been the opposition for the first ever competitive game at the ground on the opening day of the 2021-22 season which saw the Peacocks emerge 4-1 winners.
Wimborne currently lie in 14th position and have won four of their seven home league fixtures this season but will be aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to Chertsey Town, a result which means a return of just one point from their last three outings. However such is the compact nature of the current table that the Dorset side, promoted after winning the Division One South title last season, are only three points behind Taunton.
The Peacocks hope to have Owen Brain back in contention after he missed the Walton game due to illness while centre half Ollie Woodhouse plays his last game before a one match suspension for five bookings. Loan defender Will Merrett also returns to the squad after playing for parent club Forest Green Rovers against Stoke City Under 21’s in the National League Cup on Tuesday evening. Town manager Richard Luffman said:” We’ll be looking to build on the past week when we’ve gone two games unbeaten, and Tuesday’s result has given us all a lift. The focus is on adding more points on the board in our push to climb the table, but we know it will be another tough game, having had some battles with them last season. With the journey being shorter than our recent away games it would be great to see a good following down there as the support has been superb and is well appreciated.”
