After the Peacocks ended their wait for a first home win this season in the Southern League Premier South on Saturday, they will be aiming to follow that up with another positive result when Swindon Supermarine visit the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow evening (24th September), ko 7.45pm.
The weekend win over Marlow lifted Taunton up to the relative comfort of 11th place in the league table as they improved their unbeaten run to seven competitive games and a further three points tomorrow in what will be the first fixture at home under lights this season has the potential to see them climb further. It is sure to be a typically tough game though against a Supermarine side which could include several former Town players including strikr Dave Sims-Burgess and defender Ioan Richards. They currently sit in 17th spot after a topsy turvy start to their campaign, three defeats and a draw opening their season before they gained victory at Hungerford Town on Bank Holiday Monday. They followed this with a 5-0 drubbing of Poole Town, a side which had knocked them out of the FA Cup in a replay only four days earlier, before being on the receiving end at home against Merthyr who triumphed 5-1. A goalless draw at Wimborne on Saturday then steadied the submarine, meaning they only lie two points adrift of the Peacocks going into tomorrow’s contest.
Jake Hodgson should return to an otherwise unchanged squad after he missed the Marlow game with a hamstring injury.
