The Peacocks were left frustrated after their Evo-Stik League game at Barnstaple Town was called off just over an hour before kick-off this evening (27th February).
Despite some snow and sub-zero temperatures being forecasted, an afternoon pitch inspection had given the go-ahead for the game to take place, the only fixture to survive the weather in the Southern League. However the match referee deemed the pitch unplayable with Peacock players and officials having already arrived at Mill Road, some of whom had travelled considerable distances. Meanwhile the home game with Wimborne Town arranged for next Tuesday (6th March) will have to be rescheduled for a fifth time as the Magpies have to play a Dorset Senior Cup tie against Poole Town postponed from this evening. New dates for both the Barnstaple and Wimborne games will be announced shortly. The Peacocks now turn their attentions to Saturday’s home meeting with Slimbridge weather permitting.
