The Peacocks suffered late heartbreak as a stoppage time goal saw them lose 1-0 to leaders Ebbsfleet United in the Vanarama National League South this afternoon.
It was a harsh outcome for Town who matched their opponents and came closest to scoring during a goalless first half. The visitors began to gain the lion’s share of possession after the break but Town held firm before hopes of a well-earned point unravelled during the final few minutes of the contest. Lee Lucas received a straight red card following a challenge on Franklin Domi before the visitors snatched the crucial goal three minutes into stoppage time, Jack Bycroft saving Darren McQueen’s effort and Dominic Poleon slotting home the loose ball to leave Ebbsfleet requiring just one more point to become champions.
