It’s a long midweek journey for the Peacocks who travel to Walton & Hersham for a rearranged Southern League Premier South fixture tomorrow evening (5th November), ko 7.45pm.
Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Bracknell Town stopped the rot after two heavy losses on the road, the weekend result leaving Taunton in 13th position but with games in hand on sides above them. In fact a victory for Town in Surrey tomorrow could see them climb five places up the table but standing in their way are a Swans side sitting on the edge of the play-off zone in 5th spot. After losing at AFC Totton on the opening day of the campaign they embarked on a five game winning streak including a 5-2 victory over leaders Merthyr but then went six league games without a win until beating Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday at the Elmbridge Sports Hub, a ground the Peacocks have previously visited when the now defunct Walton Casuals were the tenants.
Similar to Taunton, Walton & Hersham are unbeaten at home this season in all competitions and with Nana Owusu and Dawid Rogalski also featuring amongst the division’s leading scorers it will take a big effort from Town to come back with any reward tomorrow night. Eddie Jones returns to the Peacocks’ squad after missing the Bracknell game through illness while Harris Feltham is also available after recovering from a wrist injury. New signing Josh Owers is in line to make his first start after making his debut off the bench on Saturday whilst Josh Gould and Adam Parkes are vying for the keeper’s jersey for the trip to Surrey. Manager Richard Luffman said:” Results from our last two away games have not been acceptable so to reward supporters who attended both those matches we have paid the admission charge for any of those fans making the journey tomorrow night. Support has been brilliant on the road this season and we really appreciate it. We’re going to need them behind us in what will be a very difficult game but one we’re confident we can get a result in.”
