We are delighted to welcome talented young midfielder and eleventh-summer signing, Charlie Dashfield, to Taunton Town F.C.
Charlie spent time in the youth setups of Southampton and Bristol City before being offered an apprenticeship with Cheltenham Town. Charlie spent two years as a professional apprentice with the Gloucestershire side before initially joining Richard Luffman’s Cribbs on loan in the 2021/22 season, before making his loan permanent following his release from Cheltenham. At the tender age of 20 years old, Charlie made over 100 appearances for Cribbs, becoming a key figure in their Hellenic League title-winning campaign of 2022-23.
We spoke to Charlie following the signing and he had this to say: “Really excited to join this big club, with a great fan base. Cant wait to get started and to meet all the fans. Hopefully will be a positive season. Up The Peacocks 🦚”
Despite offers to join other Southern Premier sides during that time, Charlie has decided to follow former manager Richard Luffman to Taunton Town F.C, Luffman had these comments to make regarding the signing: “Charlie like Duru and Feltham are massive prospect players. Chaz has been in an academy for Cheltenham for a number of years, and has now had a great grounding at Cribbs playing over 100 games and winning multiple trophies. I love Charlie’s attitude, a team player that’ll thrive at this level.”
