The Peacocks recovered from going behind to secure an absolutely vital 2-1 Southern League win at Metropolitan Police this afternoon.
Neither side could break through in a goalless first half before Town conceded after 71 minutes when Louis Birch headed in from George Frith’s free kick. The Peacocks responded when Toby Holmes swept home the equaliser following a Lloyd James free kick on 78 minutes before Jay Foulston’s corner fell loose at the far post for Joe Budd to net the winner four minutes later and send the travelling fans wild. The destiny of the title is still in Town’s hands as they prepare for another crucial match at home to Yate Town on Tuesday evening.
