The Peacocks’ predicament near the bottom of the Vanarama National League South took a further turn for the worse after they lost 2-0 to Bath City at Wordsworth Drive this afternoon.
Town had the worst possible start when Cody Cooke slotted home from Jack Batten’s long diagonal ball inside three minutes to hand the visitors the lead which they nearly doubled when Elliott Frear fired against the outside of the post from a tight angle soon after. The Peacocks battled hard and saw plenty of possession especially in the second half but were unable to make it count before the Romans added a second five minutes into stoppage time when Jack Bates curled home a strike into the far corner to lift his side into the play-off places while Town slip down a spot to 22nd and now focus on a crucial game at home to Maidstone United on Wednesday evening.
