A fabulous strike from Ollie Chamberlain steered the Peacocks to a 1-0 win over Bristol City U23’s at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this evening (10th August)
In Town’s final pre-season game before the start of the Southern League campaign, the only goal came just two minutes in when a cleared free kick fell to Chamberlain who hit a stunning volley over Will Buse from 20 yards. A lively City side had a great chance to draw level seven minutes before the break when Louis Britton was brought down but Lloyd Irish saved Britton’s penalty and the follow-up while Ayman Benarous also struck the woodwork approaching half time. Although both sides had opportunities in the second half there was no further addition to the score as the Peacocks now look forward to Saturday’s League opener at Wimborne Town.
