We are delighted to welcome our first capture of the close season with the arrival of Austen Booth from Plymouth Parkway.
The highly rated 25 year old who is comfortable playing in both defence or midfield comes to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium having scooped both the Supporters and Players’ Player of the Year awards at Southern League Premier South side Parkway for last season and is seeking to further enhance his reputation with the Peacocks.
Austen told us:” Coming to Taunton was an easy decision, they are a big club and I know some of the boys really well here and I’m looking forward to playing with them. It’s also a great opportunity to test myself again at a higher level and to showing Taunton Town and the fans what I can do. I have played a few games for Truro at National League level when I was younger so I know what it’s all about and I can’t wait to get going.” A full interview with Austen can be found on Peacocks TV HERE
Booth has wide ranging experience with a number of non-league clubs, joining Truro City in the summer of 2017 having graduated through the ranks at Torquay United. His three years at Truro were punctuated by loans at Barnstaple Town and Buckland Athletic who he rejoined in the summer of 2020 before going on to feature for Tiverton Town and Parkway where he enjoyed a superb year in the Plymouth club’s first season at Southern Premier level.
Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” We’re very pleased to secure Austen, he’s another massive addition to the squad. He is somebody we’ve been tracking for the last 12 months and brings good quality to the playing side as well as great character to the squad as we look to increase numbers for next season. He won two major awards at Parkway last season which shows what a super player he is.”
