The Peacocks made it back to back victories in the BetVictor Southern League with a convincing 3-0 win at Wimborne Town yesterday afternoon (24th August).
A warm afternoon at the Cuthbury saw Town build up a two goal advantage by the interval. They had already come close before they grabbed the lead on 20 minutes, Bradley Webb’s header hitting the post from Zac Smith’s cross and from the ensuing scramble Matt Wright squeezed the ball over the line at the near post. Great work by Harry Kite then created Town’s second of the afternoon on 36 minutes, robbing Luke Holmes and evading keeper Cameron Plain to set up Andrew Neal to sweep home. The Peacocks maintained the pressure after the break, Wright’s header finding the upright from Shane White’s cross, before the points were secured with 69 minutes played, Neal drilling home a penalty after his pass had seen Dan Sullivan brought down.
Reaction – Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” The effort levels and work rate were outstanding in stifling heat. The way we kept going after we smelt blood was the most pleasing thing for me and we passed the ball really well in the second half. But that’s gone now and no time to get carried away with an important derby game coming up tomorrow” See further reaction from Rob on Peacocks TV HERE
