Match Report
The Peacocks were knocked out of the Somerset Premier Cup after a weakened side lost on the 3G pitch at Keynsham.
Manager Rob Dray decided not to include any Plymouth based players but the visitors still produced a strong performance before losing out to two quick fire goals. Taunton were in fact unlucky not to open the scoring after 26 minutes when a shot by Jamie Short hit the crossbar and Weston keeper Luke Purnell kept the “hosts” in it with several good saves, denying both Ollie Chamberlain and then Dan Demkiv on a couple of occasions before Lloyd Irish made a fine stop at the other end just before the break to foil Sam Hendy.
Taunton continued to create chances and a Luke Spokes free kick ten minutes after the break went just over the bar while Purnell again thwarted Demkiv. Weston’s pressure eventually told and they took the lead after 72 minutes with a shot by prolific scorer James Waite after Irish had saved Tom Llewellyn’s initial effort. The same player repeated the feat just a minute later and the match was over.
