A strong second half display from the visitors condemned the Peacocks to their first defeat of the season.
Taunton were the better side in the first half and had a good chance after just eight minutes but skipper Matt Wright’s header went over the bar. Four minutes later Ed Palmer tried his luck with a free kick and there were also opportunities for Dan Sullivan, Andrew Neal and Jamie Short. Yeovil also had some good chances with Tom Whelan, Ryan Seager and Rhys Murphy all trying their luck.
The Greens finally broke the deadlock in the opening minute of the second half when a pass by former Peacock Craig Alcock found Rhys Murphy who curled a left foot shot into the corner giving home keeper Lloyd Irish no chance. A minute later Yeovil could have doubled their lead but an audacious shot by a triallist just missed the target. The triallist also had a hand in Yeovil’s second goal after 68 minutes, his cross being expertly headed home by Murphy again leaving Irish with no chance. Murphy could have completed his hat trick in the last minute but his shot was straight at Irish.
