Match Report
The Peacocks tasted defeat for the first time this season against a strong looking Bristol City side at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium.
The hosts had a chance after six minutes but Owen Howe’s shot was straight at visiting keeper Harvey Wiles-Richards. The visitors took the lead a minute later – birthday boy Lloyd Irish did well to tip a shot onto the crossbar but the rebound fell nicely for former Peacock Zac Smith, who hammered it home.
Taunton continued to have chances as Owen Howe and vice captain Dan Sullivan both went close but the Robins held the lead at the break.
Six minutes into the second half Bristol City doubled their lead courtesy of a shot by Sam Bell, son of former Robins’ favourite Micky.
Ollie Chamberlain had the best chance of the second half for the hosts after 68 minutes but his shot went wide.
The usual raft of substitutions did not help the flow of the game but one of the replacements, Tommy Conway, made the game safe for City three minutes from time with another well placed shot.
