The Peacocks hit the road for their first away fixture in the Southern League Premier South this season when they travel to Poole Town tomorrow evening (13th August), ko 7.45pm.
Saturday’s opening game with Gloucester City saw Town having to settle for a point from a 3-3 draw after being three goals up so more of the same attacking prowess coupled with a tightening up at the back will no doubt be the aim tomorrow against a Dolphins side which also drew their first match with a 0-0 result at Bracknell Town on Saturday. Poole possess a clutch of experienced players at this level including former Yeovil captain Josh Staunton and striker Toby Holmes, a fans’ favourite when he was with the Peacocks from 2020 until 2022, so a difficult night in Dorset awaits.
Taunton have no fitness concerns from Saturday, with the possibility of Tiago Sa being available after missing the opener. Peacocks’ manager Richard Luffman commented:” Tomorrow is a really tough game against good opposition. Obviously, the prep from Saturday to Tuesday is more difficult but we’ve had them watched and we know their strengths and there’s a lot of them. We must learn the lessons from Saturday of how to defend in the first half and how not to defend in the second and if we do this it will stand us in good stead to be competitive in the match. We’ll see how the boys react with a tough Tuesday night game after what was an enthralling game on Saturday. We’re looking to put on a show for the supporters who make the journey and to get a positive result.”
