The influx of new faces at Wordsworth Drive continues as we welcome Tom Purrington to the club. The central midfielder becomes the Peacocks’ seventh capture of pre-season for what in reality is his second spell at the club following a brief loan period during the 2019-20 campaign which was cut short by the season being terminated due to Covid.
Tom’s early career was spent with Plymouth Argyle where graduated through their Academy to make one first team appearance in November 2018. He then went on loan to Dorchester Town at the beginning of the 2019-20 season which was followed by him arriving on loan at Taunton in February 2020 where he was an unused substitute on four occasions.
After his release from Argyle he signed for National League Bromley in the summer of 2020 before returning to Dorchester Town for the 2021-22 season. A switch to Tiverton Town followed in the summer of 2022 before moving to Plymouth Parkway for last season where some classy performances helped his side maintain their Southern League Premier status.
Tom told us: “I’m really happy to be a Taunton Town player. I can’t wait to play for this great club and to make this season an exciting one. I look forward to seeing all you fans at Wordsworth Drive soon!”
Peacocks’ manager Richard Luffman remarked:” Tom is a proper midfield player who has great pedigree at this level and is someone who really impressed last campaign with Plymouth Parkway. We’ve no doubt whatsoever that Tom is going to be a great player for Taunton and someone the crowd will enjoy watching get on the ball. A great asset to our football club.”
