The Peacocks’ hopes of escaping relegation from the Vanarama National League South took a major blow when they were beaten 4-0 by Slough Town at Wordsworth Drive this evening. The game hinged on the dismissal of home goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe on 18 minutes after he had brought down Nathan Minhas. Marcus Day took over the gloves for ten man Town but was unable to prevent Minhas from converting the penalty to give Slough the lead which they nearly doubled before the break when David Ogbonna’s strike hit the bar. The visitors eventually added a second four minutes into the second half when Minhas was free to slot home from Johnny Goddard’s pass before adding two more to complete the scoreline. Trae Cook-Appiah broke away to fire into the far corner on 61 minutes and then netted his second with an excellent overhead kick three minutes from time, leaving the Peacocks deep in trouble and without a win in nine games as they now regroup ahead of Saturday’s trip to Farnborough.
