Despite a hardworking display, the Peacocks went down to a 1-0 defeat to Maidstone United in the Vanarama National League South this evening. In a game switched to Gloucester City because of the Wordsworth Drive pitch. Town matched their promotion-chasing opponents for long spells but after a goalless first half were undone in the 64th minute when Bivesh Gurung returned the ball back into the box for Muhammadu Faal to net from close range. A late flurry of pressure failed to yield any reward for the Peacocks who remain deep in trouble after their sixth consecutive defeat which they will hope to end when they travel to Hampton & Richmond on Saturday.
