The final two months of the Vanarama National League season begin for the Peacocks tomorrow (2ND March) when they take on Truro City for the second time in a month.
The fixture will see Town make their first ever visit to Gloucester City’s new stadium, with the game having been switched to the Tigers’ ground yesterday due to Wordsworth Drive, Truro’s temporary home for the remainder of the season, remaining unplayable due to the large volume of recent rainfall.
Following their 1-1 draw at Dartford last weekend, the Peacocks will hope to go one better against a City side who are also battling away at the bottom of the table, lying one point ahead in 20th spot and having played the same number of games. Since the White Tigers fought out a goalless draw against Town in early February, they have gone on to lose three on the bounce including Tuesday night’s defeat by Welling United, a result which saw the Kent side leapfrog Taunton who now find themselves in the bottom four for the first time this season. Fingers crossed then that the Peacocks can grab a second league win on the road this season to climb back out of the relegation zone.
Town skipper Nick Grimes serves a one game suspension following his dismissal at Dartford last weekend, but the squad is boosted by the signings of midfielder Jaden Brown and striker Seb Bolton. Head of Football Rob Dray remarked:” It’s good to get the game on albeit in different circumstances. We have to take the good bits from our performance against Dartford into tomorrow and keep working hard to turn our fortunes around.”
