The Peacocks will be seeking to arrest their recent dip in home form when they host Aveley in the Vanarama National League South tomorrow (27th January), ko 3.00pm.
A victory at Wordsworth Drive has eluded Town since Farnborough were soundly beaten in early December, with four further games since then generating just two points. A positive result tomorrow is therefore vital both to maintain the six point gap between themselves and the bottom four and also inject some much-needed confidence into a side which has harvested just eight points from their last 14 fixtures.
Aveley visit Somerset having recovered from a poor spell last month in which they picked up just the single point from five games which they turned around with a win over Dover at the end of December. Since then they have embarked on a four game unbeaten streak, with the midweek success at Eastbourne Borough putting them in sixth spot in the table, a very successful achievement in their first National League season. On the road they have won on six occasions, with impressive victories at the likes of Maidstone United and St Albans City, and after beating the Peacocks in their home debut at Step 2 back in August, they will be all out to complete the double tomorrow.
There will be injury tests prior to the game for Town captain Nick Grimes and full back Zac Bell who were both forced to retire with knocks on Tuesday. Head of Football Rob Dray remarked:” It’s important to remain focused and to work hard. If we do that we will turn the tide, so the players need support more than ever now.”

Last meeting: there was no joy for the Peacocks in Essex back in August as they suffered a 4-1 defeat. A Siju Odelusi penalty gave the Millers the lead before Malachi Linton brought Town level, only for Odelusi to restore the hosts’ lead just before the break. Charlee Hughes added a third in the second half and Odelusi completed his hat trick to secure a convincing victory. No match highlights are available.
