The Peacocks begin a trio of games over the festive period with the visit of Tonbridge Angels in the Vanarama National League South tomorrow afternoon (23rd December), ko 3.00pm.
With the midweek game against Torquay United having been postponed, Town have had to wait a week to get last Saturday’s defeat at Havant & Waterlooville out of their system so tomorrow provides a perfect opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit with three points and secure the league double following a 3-0 win in Kent just over three months ago in one of their best performances of the campaign. The Angels are on a very respectable run of form though, having experienced just the one defeat in nine games which came at Torquay by a 2-1 margin three weeks ago before bouncing back in style last weekend with a 4-0 drubbing of Kent rivals Dartford.
Tonbridge have picked up five wins on their travels this season including three on the spin prior to their loss at Torquay with victories at Truro City, St Albans City and Eastbourne Borough so they will be eyeing similar success tomorrow to improve on their 9th place in the table while the Peacocks seek to carry on from where they left off in their last game at the Somerset Campervan Co Stadium which produced a 4-0 win over Farnborough.
Head of Football Rob Dray remarked:” It would be great to start the Christmas period off with a win but we know it will be a tough game against a Tonbridge side which has been on a decent run. As I said before the postponed Torquay game, we have not become a bad side after the one result last week and I ask the fans to get behind us tomorrow as a positive result will set us up for what are bound to be two very hard games with Yeovil.” The squad remains unchanged from last weekend.
