We were delighted to welcome our guest Georgia Beard from the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance to our game against Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday.
The charity was first out of the hat in our annual Stand Draw which took place during pre-season and allows the winner to have the name of their company or organisation displayed on the South stand at Wordsworth Drive for the whole season. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance took their place in the draw thanks to the support of our main shirt sponsor and local chartered accountants Albert Goodman who were represented on Saturday by their Director of Marketing Robin Clempson.
Georgia, who is the Corporate and Relationships Officer for the charity and is pictured above with Peacocks’ team captain Nick Grimes, Chairman Kevin Sturmey, Robin Clempson and Club Director Derek Perry, commented:” Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is grateful for the partnership with Albert Goodman and Taunton Town FC. As one of our local football teams, we are excited to have our name above the stand for the season ahead, helping us to raise awareness of our life-saving work across our local community. We wish Taunton Town FC good luck for the rest of the season!”
Since March 2000, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance has been there for critically ill and injured people when they need them the most. The enhanced skills of their team, specialist equipment and drugs that they carry, along with the speed of their response, can make the difference between life and death. Their team of highly skilled pilots, critical care practitioners, nurses, and doctors are operational for 19 hours a day between 7.00am and 2.00am 365 days a year as they work together tirelessly to save lives.
Their pilots use their incredible flying skills to reach patients in the local community, often in remote locations, by the roadside, in a park or on a beach. Their clinical team provides complex and life-saving interventions to stabilise and treat patients at the scene of the incident. Together, their clinical and aviation team essentially bring the hospital to the patient, wherever they may be, giving them the best possible chance of survival. The service they provide is 95% funded by charitable giving, by people like you. Last year, they were tasked to attend 2,424 incidents, with each mission costing approximately £3,500.
Chairman Kevin Sturmey said:” We are delighted to see this fantastic charity adorn the south stand. Our annual Stand Draw attracts many businesses all hoping to win and the last entrant into the draw thanks to our Main Shirt Sponsor Albert Goodman got pulled out first. Albert Godman Accountants choose a charity each year to support, and their chosen charity is a very worthy winner. We look forward to working with Georgia and her team and help grow their profile and raise money and awareness with them.”
