The Peacocks will be aiming to complete a hat trick of successive away wins when they travel to Hampton & Richmond Borough in the Vanarama National League South tomorrow evening (28th March), ko 7.45pm.
The trip to West London ends a trilogy of treks in the past week for Town who have responded to the challenge by securing back to back victories at Welling United and on Saturday at Braintree Town, results which have considerably improved their position just above the bottom four. Although the job is not yet done to ensure National League football remains at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium for next season, the Peacocks can take another big step towards that with a positive result tomorrow against the Beavers who will be chasing a quickfire League double following their victory in Somerset three weeks ago. That success sparked a sequence of three further wins on the bounce for Borough against Chelmsford, Cheshunt and Dover before their winning spell was ended on Saturday with a 1-0 home defeat to Farnborough. Nevertheless four wins from five games has propelled them up to 16th, one point and two places ahead of Town but with four more matches to their name.
The Peacocks name an unchanged squad from their terrific win at Braintree on Saturday which ended the hosts’ unbeaten home League record while Hampton will be missing Adrian Clifton, James Comley and Brandon Barzey who are on international duty with Montserrat. Head of Football Rob Dray said:” We have achieved superb things against the odds in the past week but the attitude of this group means we keep going. We cannot afford to let our standards slip in any shape or form as there can be no room for complacency in this league. The team have done terrifically well to play themselves out of a bad spell but there is still a lot of work to do, the lads know that, so we must show the same resolve we have shown in the last two games to give ourselves a chance.”
