The Peacocks suffered their third consecutive home defeat in the Vanarama National League South with a disappointing 3-1 reverse to Hampton & Richmond Borough this evening.
As good as Town had been in Saturday’s win at Tonbridge, their performance was at the other end of the scale against a side hovering above the relegation zone. After Dave Sims-Burgess had hit the post early on for the home side, Borough grabbed the lead on 18 minutes when poor defending saw Luis Fernandez score from close range following a corner before the Peacocks drew level ten minutes later when Sims-Burgess latched onto a ball over the top to slot home. However, the visitors were back in front two minutes before the break when Jake Gray curled a shot into the corner past Lloyd Irish. Fernandez scored his second of the night after 64 minutes when he connected at the far post to convert a flicked-on corner and Town had no response as Hampton deservedly secured their first win on the road since November.
