After playing at home in five of their last six Vanarama National League South games, the Peacocks begin a brutal month on the road with a trip to Tonbridge Angels tomorrow afternoon (4th March).
Another eight League fixtures are scheduled for March, six of which see Town having to travel starting with the journey to Kent tomorrow where the Peacocks will be aiming to arrest a poor run of form which has seen them pick up just two points from their last six outings. Two successive home defeats to Dover and Eastbourne have left the outlook for Town less rosy than it was a week ago but they still remain in 17th position and have more than enough games in hand to ensure they can maintain their National League status for next season.
As they have found out though in recent weeks, the hard part is translating games into points and it won’t be any easier tomorrow. The Angels are on a decent run of form, having lost just twice in eleven games since the turn of the year. They go into tomorrow’s encounter with four wins from their last five matches including consecutive 1-0 victories at Bath City and Hampton & Richmond Borough to leave them well placed in 8th spot just outside the play-off places.
The Peacocks welcome back Lee Lucas following his one game suspension while Nat Jarvis has been declared fit. Lloyd Irish again dons the goalkeeping gloves, with Jack Bycroft probably a week away from a return. Head of Football Rob Dray said:” Another top ten side away is always tough although we have done pretty well in these games so far this season. We’ve been good in patches but need a level of consistency and concentration for 90 minutes which this league demands and which we will need against Tonbridge who have been on a good run. This league dictates you need to turn up in every game and that’s what we must do tomorrow.”
