The Peacocks were cruelly denied a deserved share of the spoils by a stoppage time penalty as they lost 2-1 at Oxford City this evening.
The hosts were on top early on and took the lead after 20 minutes when Andre Burley converted a cross from Klaidi Lolos. However Town fought back with Joe Guest unlucky to see his strike hit the crossbar. The equaliser arrived on 38 minutes when a Lloyd James corner fell loose for Dave Sims-Burgess to rifle home. The Peacocks looked the likelier side to win it in the second half which saw City skipper Reece Fleet sent off close to the end. Then one minute into stoppage time the referee saw something no-one else seemed to and pointed to the spot. Joe Iaciofano scored the penalty to hand his side a fortuitous three points and leave Town fuming.
