The Peacocks’ impressive defensive record was severely dented after suffering a 5-0 defeat at National League South leaders Ebbsfleet United this afternoon.
The slick home side were always in command, taking the lead after 17 minutes when Greg Cundle drove home past Jack Bycroft and after Omari Sterling-James had hit the post with a shot, the hosts doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Dominic Poleon slotted in Rakish Bingham’s centre. Town were unable to mount any serious response as Toby Edser scored Ebbsfleet’s third on 54 minutes after weaving into the box and firing into the corner. Edser set up Bingham inside the area for the fourth goal after 66 minutes before Edser himself completed the rout on 71 minutes when he fired home Shaq Coulthirst’s pass.
