The Peacocks play their second home friendly of pre-season when they welcome Yeovil Town to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow evening (12th July), ko 7.45pm.
After Town opened their pre-season with a 4-0 win at Bitton last week, Friday’s game with Exeter City was a different affair with the Peacocks narrowly losing out by a 2-1 margin against the League One outfit. Tomorrow’s meeting with the Glovers should provide a good yardstick against National League opposition as preparations continue for Town’s debut at Step 2. This will be Yeovil’s first friendly of pre-season in front of a crowd, their only game to date being a 4-0 victory over Western League Sherborne Town behind closed doors last Friday.
Taunton include new striker signing Nat Jarvis for the first time following his return from holiday while fellow new forward Dave Sims-Burgess is in the squad after missing the Exeter game. Ollie Chamberlain is also nearing full fitness after only playing a small part so far due to a rib injury, but Joe Budd is likely to miss the match with a dead leg. Yeovil, meanwhile, under new manager Chris Hargreaves, should field a strong side which may include summer signings Ollie Hulbert from Bristol Rovers, Malachi Linton from Wycombe Wanderers and Jamie Reckord from Boreham Wood.
Admission: payable by card or cash at the turnstile only, priced at £12 for Adults, £10 for Concessions and £5 for Juniors (14-17 years). Children aged 13 and under are free on condition they are accompanied by an adult. Unaccompanied Under 14’s will not be admitted.
Last meeting: a late goal from Tom Knowles secured a 1-0 win for the Glovers in the most recent meeting between the sides during pre-season on 3 August 2021. Relive the match highlights HERE
IMPORTANT NOTICE: as the club are now governed according to legislation applicable to National League clubs, we are now required to comply to the Sporting Events (Control Of Alcohol) Act 1985 when playing against opposition from a higher level (National League or above) which covers our pre-season games against Exeter, Yeovil, and Bristol City. As part of this requirement, alcohol must not be consumed in view of the pitch when matches are played against opposition from Step 1 (National League) and above e.g., EFL. For League matches at Step 2 and matches against Step 2 teams and below this rule does not apply. Regrettably, we are therefore unable to provide an outside Bar for the three friendlies previously mentioned to ensure we remain compliant.
Drinking of alcohol and the possession of bottles, cans or portable containers designed for holding drink will be strictly restricted to and contained within the Clubhouse and Peacock Suite (when in use), ensuring that nobody is drinking at all in view the of the pitch at ALL times. Additionally, the Clubhouse MUST stop serving 15 minutes prior to Kick-Off and not re-commence serving again until 15 minutes after each match, therefore meaning NO service during the half time interval.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these new restrictions and wish to emphasise they are not decisions made by the club but are legal requirements imposed on us at our new level.
