After the midweek postponement against Yate Town, the Peacocks will be eager to resume their promotion quest when they travel to Salisbury tomorrow afternoon (5th March), ko 3.00pm.
A waterlogged pitch at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium on Tuesday put paid to Town’s hopes of getting last weekend’s defeat to Harrow Borough out of their system, their first loss in 19 competitive games. Instead they now turn their attentions to tomorrow’s trip to Wiltshire and the chance to secure the League double over the Whites after a 3-1 home win last month thanks to two Ross Stearn goals and a great strike from Zac Smith. Salisbury followed up that game by holding leaders Hayes & Yeading United to a 1-1 draw before losing their next two matches to Chesham and Beaconsfield. However they picked up their first win in five outings with a 3-2 victory at Hendon last Saturday to leave them in 15th position. Salisbury have only won 4 of their 16 League fixtures at home this season so the Peacocks will hope to worsen that record tomorrow as they aim to further enhance their title claims and improve their poor record at the RayMac Stadium, having never won at the venue and having earnt just one point from their last four visits.
Town again name an unchanged squad as the games come thick and fast in the final two months of the campaign. Head of Football Rob Dray contemplated:” The last seven weeks of the season are going to be a real test of our resolve with some big matches coming up. Tomorrow will be another difficult game and we must approach it in the right way and get back to the levels we have set ourselves over the 90 minutes during our fantastic run. The team have proved themselves winning 10 games on the bounce, but that is history, and we now need to start over again.”
