There are two crucial Southern League home games coming up this week for the Peacocks beginning with the visit of Yate Town to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow evening (7th December), ko 7.45pm.
Saturday’s point gained at Walton Casuals so might easily have been three, a late equaliser pegging Town back, so maximising home advantage in the next five days will be top of the priority list in order to keep within touching distance of the play-off zone. The draw in Surrey made it four games unbeaten for the Peacocks but they will face a tough test tomorrow evening against an in-form Yate side who have lost just one of their last 11 League fixtures and won seven, most recently cantering to a 4-0 victory at Beaconsfield at the weekend. The Bluebells’ good run of form sees them lying in 6th place, three points clear of Town and with the same number of games played, emphasizing the importance of tomorrow’s game which promises to be another tight encounter, much like the meeting between the sides last month which finished as a goalless draw at Lodge Road.
Goalkeeper Lloyd Irish comes back into the squad after missing the trip to Walton, otherwise the squad remains unchanged with Dan Sullivan and Ross Staley still injured and Jared Lewington suffering from covid. Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” A quick turnaround is always good I find as we have a chance to put Saturday behind us as we take on a strong Yate team. It is vital we try and win as many home games as possible as there are so many teams in with a shout this season. It was disappointing not to claim the win at the weekend but that’s gone and we must make sure we are now fully focused on what will be another hard match.”
