After a welcome week’s break the Peacocks resume their Pitching In Southern League season when they entertain Walton Casuals at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow afternoon (25th September), ko 3.00pm.
Town will be looking to turn their fortunes around as they search for their first win in four games. After losing at Farnborough a fortnight ago, they were pegged back by a stoppage time equaliser at Poole and had to settle for a point before a disappointing display saw them exit the Emirates FA Cup last Saturday at Weston-super-Mare who were convincing 5-1 winners. Tomorrow’s game will hopefully see the Peacocks return to form against their Surrey visitors who lie one place and one point higher in 8th spot. Undefeated in their first four fixtures following wins against Gosport and Tiverton and draws with Farnborough and Truro, they then suffered two consecutive defeats before bouncing back with a home victory over Hendon but similar to Town they were also knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend when they went down 3-0 to National League South side Hampton & Richmond Borough.
After a run of five successive away games the Peacocks will be glad to return home where they will enjoy five of their next seven matches. Head of Football Rob Dray is looking forward to some home comforts. “It will be nice to be back at the Cygnet and hopefully we will get a good crowd in as we look to respond to recent results. We are ready after a weeks’ training, confidence is good and there is no doubting the ability of the players. We are aware of the threat that Walton pose, but it’s all about us and what we do in the 90 minutes.” There will be fitness tests before the game for Jared Lewington, Lee Lucas and Jake Wannell who are all very close to a return following injury
