The Peacocks begin their pre-season schedule with a trip up the M5 to play Clevedon Town tomorrow evening (9th July), ko 7.45pm.
The game will be Taunton’s first match action since the start of November bar the training game against Exeter City at the end of April. It will also be the Western League side’s opening friendly, with their League season kicking off in three weeks’ time on Saturday 31st July. Their recent appeal to move to the Hellenic League following the restructure at Steps 4 – 6 was rejected by the FA.
The Peacocks will not be at full strength with a couple of players absent as they are isolating due to Covid. However new striker Jared Lewington will be making his first appearance for Town following his close season move from Tiverton Town.
Head of Football Rob Dray said:” It will be great to start pre-season properly, but it is always tough against a good Clevedon side that Mickey has put together. We will have the normal smattering of trialists, but we are missing some faces as apart from the isolations, one is at a wedding and one on holiday so the usual life of a non-league footballer at this time of year.”
Our travelling supporters are reminded to familiarise themselves with the Clevedon Town Spectator Guidance HERE . They should enter through the normal spectator gate where they should use the NHS Track and Trace App or be signed in (by voice recorder) on arrival and temperature checks will be carried out.
The capacity for this game is 500. There are no advance ticket sales and admission will be pay on the night, either by card or cash.
