The Peacocks finally play their rescheduled Somerset Premier Cup 2nd Round tie at home to Bath City tomorrow evening (5th February), kick-off 7.45pm.
The game has had to be rearranged on several occasions due to either Town or Bath having other commitments, but the match is all set to go ahead at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow, nearly three months after the original set date. It will be the Peacocks first game in this season’s competition, having had a bye in the first round, but of course they have played the Final of last year’s Somerset Premier Cup in pre-season, losing 2-1 to Weston-super-Mare who await the winners of tomorrow’s tie in the Quarter Final.
Bath won 5-1 at Shepton Mallet Town in the 1st Round of the competition and are also going well in the National League South, currently sitting in fifth spot. However they have failed to win in their last three games, being routed 7-0 at Wealdstone in the league before exiting the FA Trophy with a 2-1 home defeat to Concord Rangers and then picking up a point from a 0-0 draw at Dorking Wanderers on Saturday. City have announced they will be fielding a side based on the club’s academy players, but the Peacocks name a strong squad, with Owen Irish recalled and with no Bridgwater and Taunton College players involved as they also have a game tomorrow. Owen Windsor has returned to West Bromwich Albion following his loan spell with the club, but Ryley Towler still remains but is not featuring against Bath.
